We exhibited at the Labour West Midlands Regional Conference in Coventry!

We met with various authorities (including several that we already work in) and it was great to see so much enthusiasm for the type of work we carry out and a willingness to learn what surface treatments are and why we should be using them.

In addition to exhibiting, we hosted a fringe session in the afternoon where Neil Levett and Michael Hansford (Head of RSTA) gave a brief overview of the types of treatments available with a cost and carbon analysis to go with it. Both Neil and Mike have worked in the highways sector for around three decades now, and in particular it was great to have Mike attend and share his knowledge of working with surface treatments and how they significantly improved Dorset’s road network. Before joining the RSTA, Mike was the head of Dorset Council’s Highway’s department and so having a speaker with a local authority background was fantastic as it gave people a true reflection of working with the likes of surface dressing or micro surfacing, rather than it just coming from our perspective as a private company.

To watch our presentation see below. It’s well worth a watch – especially if you are from a local authority. Even if you aren’t particularly involved in your highways department, it’s a really interesting watch and highlights how local authority budgets can be maximized to ensure taxpayer money is well spent – and shouldn’t we all have an interest in that?
